Kelsea Ballerini + 8 great women of Country/Americana you should be following right now
It is with high anxiety that I open this post with one of the singers that I like the most from this country-pop limbo since Taylor Swift made her successful transition: Kelsea Ballerini. After releasing the cheerful “Subject to change” with all those colorful balloons, Kelsea returns to discuss relationships with a short film (“Rolling Up the Welcome Mat”) and, best of all, a first-rate EP/soundtrack that will be released only on vinyl from August 18th with 7 new songs.
The quality of Kelsea’s songwriting, as well as the passion with which she always approached music to release her own demons, has certainly inspired some of those great American country women that I am pleased to list below. It is a selection of singers who are not afraid to expose what they feel in their lyrics, be it feelings of love or hate. Helplessness, joy. Despair and hope. Above all, there’s the music, which is delicious and addictive.
Enjoy.
