Casino Havana, Ok Friend + 8 great alternative rock artists you will be talking about

If today “Alternative Rock” is an outdated term, we have to thank one person in particular: Kurt Cobain. It was through the commercial success of Nirvana, a band created in the underground, that alternatives to the massive products canned by record companies became even more popular than them. Nowadays the alternative is basically the status quo, and that’s a good thing, otherwise I wouldn’t find such abundant material for lists like this, with great names like Casino Havana and OK Friend. Enjoy:

Casino Havana

Writing punchy drums, heavy riffs, and poetic ‘tell it how it is’ lyrics, this up-and-coming five piece band from Halifax have gained a quick following from their energetic live shows, international fan base, and their work with Abby Road Studios.

OK Friend

OK Friend, is a solo indie dad pop project from St. Paul-based musician Taylor Tuomie. The debut single, and upcoming singles, from OK Friend are filled with a joy that comes from sitting down at an unfamiliar instrument, with little expectation, and having it turn into an hours-long writing session. They’re pop songs inspired by Bruce Hornsby, Mariah Carey, Glory Days by Bruce Springsteen, Walking On Broken Glass by Annie Lennox, and even pirating music from Limewire to make the most epic nighttime driving mix CD.
