If today “Alternative Rock” is an outdated term, we have to thank one person in particular: Kurt Cobain. It was through the commercial success of Nirvana, a band created in the underground, that alternatives to the massive products canned by record companies became even more popular than them. Nowadays the alternative is basically the status quo, and that’s a good thing, otherwise I wouldn’t find such abundant material for lists like this, with great names like Casino Havana and OK Friend.
