Estella Dawn + 10 Alt. Pop songs to cherish 2023

I believe this is the first time I make an Alt.Pop list here on the site. That’s because, in my opinion, it’s quite strange to sub-label a genre as simple and straightforward as Pop. After all, what is pop and what is alternative? Some of the artists present here come very close to incorporating this genre, whose main objective is to encompass a larger audience that doesn’t just want to dance, nor just a song to vent their daily anxieties.

And taking the opportunity, I would like to talk a little about Estella Dawn, a singer that you have already seen in other lists, mainly due to her versatility. Born and raised in New Zealand (of course, the land of the greats like Lorde) but residing in the US, Estella is a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Even though comparisons are somehow inevitable (to me, she embodies the swing and the glamour of all the women from soul music, like Lauryn Hill), in “Not a problem” she shows that she has her own identity.
