It’s time for myah

Originally hailing from South Florida (and now based in Los Angeles), myah is a breath of fresh air in the already saturated American indie-rock market. In the area since before the pandemics, despite releasing relatively little material (she has 6 wonderful singles to go), myah demonstrates an inexhaustible ability to create good melodic hooks on top of modern electronic bases. It’s a kind of music that perhaps sounds quite peculiar to fans (and orphans) of singer Sky Ferreira, who “disappeared” from the showbizz map after releasing a highly celebrated debut album.

Soccer Mommy and ex-Veruca Salt’s Louise Post are other female names that comes to mind when we try to understand the 90’s type sound of myah, who has a predilection for dealing with themes such as turbulent love relationships in her ultra-personal lyrics such as the electro-pop “now or never” and most recent, “i’ll be your light”. It’s worth noting that myah’s most listened to single on Spotify is the fun “hide” which has a creative video recorded backwards and chill vibe very much like Feist.
