The Ultimate “Weird” Covers’ List
When it comes to cover music, the funniest thing is when artists from the most diverse genres propose a totally different reading of the original version. OK. Sometimes this fails and the artist is accused of screwing up the work. But when it works, a new window of interpretation opens for songs already consolidated in our imagination or even our daily life.
In this list, in particular, I highlight the new reinterpretations of ABBA and Lou Reed classics. While the former was given a metal spin, the latter delved further into Lou Reed’s crooner style, giving the vocals a Nick Cave/Leonard Cohen feel. The others follow the same path. Check out!
The Layman Preachers – Walk on The Wild Side (Lou Reed)
Fall Into Place – “SoS” (ABBA)
B.Miles – “Can’t get you out of my head” (Kylie Minogue)
Lou Monroe – “Wicked Game” (C.Isaak)
Alex Winston – “The Book of Love” (Magnetic Fields)
Statues – “Agony” (Yung Lean)
Bonus: Erin O’Neill – “So This is Love” (Ilene Woods)
So, which cover of this list you’ve enjoyed the most?
